Tech for Equality Coalition Launches Effort

17 Sep Tech for Equality Coalition Launches Effort

Today, a new coalition, Tech for Equality, announced its formation and plans to provide a tech sector and business voice in support of equality for LGBT Hoosiers.

“Within the tech community, there is fierce competition to find and hire the best qualified employees. Talent attraction is crucial to our success,” said Bill Oesterle, former CEO and founder of Angie’s List. “We need to make it clear we do not tolerate discrimination and that Indiana is a welcoming state.”

Tech for Equality will support local human rights ordinances and efforts to update our state’s civil rights laws to include sexual orientation and gender identity.

“Today is a perfect day to announce Tech for Equality,” said Bill Oesterle. “Just this week, the Columbus City Council stood against discrimination and passed a local human rights ordinance. We applaud their courage.”

“We hope the city of Carmel will take a similar stand tonight by passing their ordinance through committee without amendments and through the full council next week. Discrimination of any kind should not be tolerated – no exceptions,” Oesterle added.
